MUSIC CONCERTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
These are the most eagerly awaited events at Kala Ghoda that gets the heart beating and the crowd moving. Saturday has two music concerts at the Asiatic Library steps. The first event is a Rock Fusion concert by Niladri Kumar and friends and it starts at 6:00pm. The second act is the folk rock act by The Raghu Dixit Project, which starts at 8:30pm.
In addition, music for the Vidya Balan starer “Kahaani” will be launched at the Asiatic steps at 7:15pm. Vidya Balan will attend the launch along with the movie’s director Sujoy Ghosh. There will be a “Dhanuchi” dance and Javed Shabir will sing a song. In the movie, Vidya Balan plays a pregnant woman in search of her husband and the father of the child.
NOTE: Since the music concerts are very popular, they are also very crowded. Arrive 30 minutes before start of concert to get a decent seat. Seats in the middle of the Asiatic steps are the best.
CHILDREN EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
There are 7 children’s workshops starting from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm. All the Children’s events are in the Museum garden which is at the entrance of the Museum. Most workshops are for one hour thirty minutes.
NOTE: There are limited seats and they get filled early. Last weekend there were many disappointed (and angry) parents because the workshops were full and they could not register their kids. Our advise is that your register your child as soon as you reach Kala Ghoda. You may also want to register at email id kgaf2012workshops@gmail.com.
FILM EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
There are 6 excellent movies on Feb 11. It will be difficult to decide which movie to see. Highly recommend are Arth (Max Mueller, 11:00am), Icchapuran (Museum Viewing Gallery, 11:00am), 12 Angry Men (Max Mueller, 6:30pm) and Shor In The City (Museum Viewing Gallery, 6:30pm). In addition there is also a discussion with Hindi film directors Rohan Sippy, Dev Benegal and author Sidharth Bhatia.
NOTE: Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes before the start of the film. Last Sunday some visitors had to return disappointed because the halls were full.
LITERATURE EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
It’s a full day on Saturday with 11 events. Literature events include book readings, book launches, quiz, workshops, and discussions. Most of the activity is at David Sassoon. Couple of events is at BNHS and one workshop is at Elphinstone college.

HERITAGE WALKS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
Being a holiday, there are two Heritage Bus tours around the landmarks of South Mumbai. No email registration for these tours. Register and collect your tickets from Rhythm House at Kala Ghoda. Shraddha Bhatawadekar will conduct a tour of VT/CST station which is one of Mumbai architectural landmark. To register, please send a mail to krutigarg@gmail.com. Kruti Garg, Rashmi Dhanwani & Shivangi Ambani will conduct a guided walk from Eros to NCPA (Nariman Point) taking in Marine Drives’s unique art deco architecture. STREET EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
There are 10 Street events on Saturday. All 10 events are at the Amphitheatre at Rampart Row (middle of K Dubash Marg). Many of the events are folk dances from all over India. In the evening, this place will be jam packed. Arrive early to get a seat at the Amphitheatre.
WORKSHOPS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL

DANCE EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
There are 3 Indian classical dance and 1 contemporary dance events at the Kala Ghoda festival on Saturday. All events are at Cross Maidan starting from 6:30 pm.
THEATRE EVENTS ON SAT, FEB 11, AT 2012 KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL
Due to the music concerts and other activities, there is only play on Sat, Feb 11. The play is “Patient” and it will be held at Gallery Beyond at 7:00pm.
